How Does Online Tutoring Work?
Ensena Team · October 1, 2026

Online tutoring removes the two biggest practical barriers to getting academic help: location and scheduling. Instead of needing a tutor who happens to live near you and has a free slot that matches yours, you can search by subject, academic level and availability, and meet a tutor over video from wherever you are.
On Ensena, the usual path starts with a search (by subject, exam, or academic level) followed by a free 25-minute Discovery Session with a tutor you're considering. This isn't a sales call; it's a real short lesson, meant to let you both decide if it's a good fit before any money changes hands.
If it's a fit, you book sessions directly with that tutor: 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on what suits the subject and your attention span for one sitting. Younger students or quick topic check-ins often work well at 30 minutes; deeper exam-prep sessions often need the full hour.
Group classes work slightly differently: instead of booking one-on-one time, you join a class with other students (capped at 10 per class), at a lower cost per session than private tutoring, run by a tutor on a set schedule.
The actual lesson happens in an online classroom: video, shared materials, and whatever the subject needs. It's not fundamentally different from an in-person lesson in content; what's different is that neither of you had to travel, and you could have found each other regardless of where you each happen to live.
